Dell OptiPlex 3000 Full Size Tower:
Seems like a good machine. Beware, Wi-Fi is through a USB dongle enclosed and there is NO BlueTooth.
Logged in to Dell web site. Registered the machine. Went to support to see if there is a Wi-Fi/BT card available. Put in the Service Tag and received the announcement in the photo attached. “This Product is registered in United Arab Emirates”, and directed me to their (UAE) Dell support or international support. All I wanted is a Wi-Fi/BT card!
Also the Dell site said the machine warranty (presumably from them to the UAE buyer?) expires 2/19/2024. I received the machine on 1/25/2024.
Via Amazon, sent seller a message. Received a response that said:
– Warranty is through us (Snow Bell) and is one year
– Do NOT register serial number (presumably with Dell. Oops! Too late!)
Going to contact Dell and see what all of this means for MY future support (parts, etc). I’ll keep on it and report back. There is a 30 day return policy…
Update 1: Contacted Dell via Amazon help. The Dell rep was very good and sent link to a place where I could transfer ownership from UAE to me in the USA. To do this:
– Sign in to Dell account
– Go to “My Products”
– Click on Service Tag
– Click on Ownership Transfer
This will make the machine a “USA” machine. The remainder of the original warranty will now be available through Dell. The seller’s 1 year warranty will still be in force.
Working on getting a Wi-Fi & Bluetooth card through Dell. Will report back…
