FHSPD108S Whole House Surge Protector

FHSPD108S is a compact whole house surge protector compatible with various brands of load centers and circuit breakers.Its robust, compact design boasts a capacity of up to 108,000Amps, making it highly adaptable for both indoor and outdoor installations, saving space while delivering efficient protection.Clear LED status indicators show that your home is protected. When protected by the FHSPD whole-house surge protector:

both green LED status indicators illuminated.

When the FHSPD reaches its protection limit and needs to be replaced:

both green LED status indicators will be off.

Installation points

Use the nearest breaker to the SPD. Position the SPD close to its intended breaker.

Keep leads short and avoid sharp bends.

Rotate the SPD for optimal LED visibility.

For outdoor installation, ensure weather sealing at the nipple (using gaskets or sealing conduit).

Never Hi-Pot test Any SPD. (will prematurely fail SPD).

Installation Instructions:

FHSPD is a Type 2 SPD. It is suitable for use downstream of the service disconnect.Pre-Plan your installation. You need to accomplish the following:

Meet all National and Local codes (NEC Article 285 and UL 1449 address SPDs). Confirm System voltage to SPD voltage (120V SPD will fail instantly on 240V, 277V, etc.). Mount SPD as close to panel or equipment as possible to keep leads short. (long leads hurt performance). Ensure leads are as short and straight as possible, including neutral and ground. Use a breaker position that is close to the SPD and the panel’s neutral and ground. Make sure system is grounded per NEC and clear of faults before energizing SPD. (inadvertent system problem may fail SPD).

Installation Steps:

Turn Off Power and Remove Cover: Switch off the power to the load center, remove the cover, and use a voltage tester to confirm the power is off.Install Circuit Breaker: Install a 2-pole circuit breaker in an available slot in the load center to match the FHSPD.Prepare and Mount FHSPD: With the circuit breaker in the OFF position, remove a knockout near the installation area. Feed the FHSPD cable through the hole, secure it with the locking nut, and fasten the FHSPD with screws.Connect Wiring: Connect the white wire to the neutral bus, green wire to the ground bus, and black and red wires to the 2-pole breaker.Check and Restore Power: Verify all connections are correct, replace the load center cover, restore power, turn on the main breaker, and reset the 2-pole breaker. The LED indicator should light up. If the breaker trips, replace the FHSPD unit.
